The MAUDE Unit

25 November 2007

Once, babies born with congenital heart disease had difficulty surviving into adulthood.

I’m Dr. Ariane Marelli, cardiologist and Director of the McGill Adult Unit for Congenital Heart Disease Excellence, better known as the MAUDE Unit.

Today, unique advances in surgery and the specialized care of the McGill University Health Centre allow tiny babies with congenital heart disease to survive to lead healthy adult lives and even have babies of their own.

The MUHC is one of the only hospitals in Canada that starts caring for congenital heart disease patients at birth and continues caring for them through every stage of life.

Unique programs like the MAUDE unit are at the heart of the McGill University Health Centre. You can strengthen the pulse of our hospital by supporting the Best Care for Life campaign. It’s for our patients. It’s for our professionals. It’s for our community. It’s for life.
