Cancer is one of the most important health problems in Canada. Although our knowledge of the mechanism of cancer has grown exponentially during the past decade, cancer as a whole remains the major cause of death in Canada. Research of members of the cancer axis is aimed at a unified approach towards a full spectrum of cancer investigations leading to new and innovative strategies for an understanding of the molecular basis of cancer, clarification of cancer etiology, prevention, improved cancer care and quality of life.
