About the Cedars Cancer Institute
Since it began its partnership with the Royal Victoria Hospital nearly 40 years ago, the Cedars Cancer Institute has nurtured a unique and compassionate relationship with the community and with the thousands of Montrealers faced with a cancer diagnosis. With the creation of the McGill University Health Centre in 1997, the Cedars expanded its support to extend across all sites of the MUHC, helping cancer patients by providing funding for state of the art diagnostic equipment, extending emotional as well as financial assistance through the Cansupport/Faire Face program, and simply adding to their general quality of life while they undergo treatment.
Now, with the MUHC's redevelopment at the Glen and Mountain campuses moving forward with energy and momentum, we are proud to have the Cedars at our side as we enter this landmark phase in our institution's history. As it has for nearly a half-century, the Cedars is demonstrating its extraordinary vision and leadership by stepping forward as a key partner in our $300 million Best Care For Life Campaign. In recognition of their leadership commitment to the campaign and to the quality and strength of our partnership, the MUHC announced in 2005 that, in perpetuity, its cancer care services would be grouped under the title “The Cedars Comprehensive Oncology Programme of the MUHC.”
