David Laidley

David Laidley of Montréal, Quebec, is Chairman Emeritus of Deloitte & Touche LLP (Canada). A chartered accountant, he has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning 40 years with Canada’s largest professional services firm, with specialization in its tax and audit practices, culminating in his election as Chairman in 2000, in which capacity he served until 2006.

From a client standpoint, Mr. Laidley has worked with a broad cross-section of Canada’s most prominent organizations in the private and public sectors. He currently serves on the Boards of The Fraser Institute, the Institute of Corporate Directors, the John Dobson Foundation, the Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific, and the Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University (where he is Chairman). Previously, he served on the Boards of a wide range of not-for-profit organizations in Canada.
