For millions of Canadians suffering from diabetes, daily insulin injections, strict dietary restrictions and the risk of debilitating side effects are a fact of life. Thanks to an incredible discovery by MUHC researcher Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg, diabetes itself may one day be a curable condition. Dr. Rosenberg has discovered a way to induce the body to regenerate the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, and he is currently working with partners in the biomedical industry to conduct clinical trials on his groundbreaking drug.

John and Patty Cleghorn knew they wanted to support the MUHC’s Best Care for Life campaign, and had a special interest in diabetes research. Once they heard about Dr. Rosenberg’s incredible work, they knew exactly where their gift should go. “We felt honored to have the chance to contribute to a discovery that might help diabetes become a thing of the past,” said Mr. Cleghorn. “Dr. Rosenberg’s work will be life-changing for literally millions of people.”
