Message from Dr. Papadopoulos

Hi, I’m Dr. Vassilios Papadopulous, Director of the Reasearch Institute of the McGill University Health Centre.

I firmly believe that the importance of research activities conducted by a university teaching hospital like the McGill University Health Centre cannot be overestimated.

Not only does research at the MUHC lead to new cures and treatment methods for patients around the world, it adds to the globally shared base of scientific knowledge while generating spin-off industries and economic growth for Montreal and the surrounding region.

The Research Institute of the MUHC is home to Canada’s largest concentration of medical and health-care research investigators. It brings together over 500 researchers from around the world. Our work is leading to innovations and advances across and beyond such research axes as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, nutrition, human reproduction, medical genetics, mental illness, neuroscience, and respiratory health.

The Research Institute is consistently a leader in its field—our success in winning funding for our work from organizations like the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research help keep us there.

Despite our success in securing government and industry funding, true innovation cannot succeed without the support of our community.
