Nature and Purpose of the Foundation
The McGill University Health Centre Foundation exists to ensure that funding is available to meet the needs of the MUHC, its patients and staff.

The Foundation is also executing one of the most ambitious health sector fundraising campaigns ever to be held in Canada. The goal of the Best Care for Life campaign is to raise funds to support the creation of a new health centre and research institute on the MUHC’s Glen campus, and the renovation and expansion of the MUHC’s Mountain campus. Once completed, the hospital’s two campuses will provide patients, their families and health care professionals with one of the most sophisticated research, teaching, patient treatment and diagnostic environments in Canada. The campaign is an unprecedented joint fundraising effort that is animated by the same cooperative spirit that motivated the voluntary merger of McGill's constituent teaching hospitals to create the MUHC in 1997, and will ensure that the MUHC remains a world health-care leader long into the future.

Foundation Mandate
The McGill University Health Centre Foundation’s mandate is to support fundraising activities to improve the quality of patient care, teaching and research, from pediatrics to geriatrics, across all of the MUHC’s sites. At present, its focus is the Best Care for Life campaign, a partnership of the foundations of the MUHC, which will raise the philanthropic portion of the funds required to complete the redevelopment the MUHC.

History of the Foundation
The MUHC Foundation was incorporated in 1999, two years after the formation of the MUHC. In the same spirit as the MUHC itself, the MUHC Foundation was created to ensure that our health care centre was supported by a philanthropic structure that would allow it to remain competitive with the finest academic health care centres in the country.
