John Archer

John Archer is well known to Montrealers locally, and to Canadians from coast to coast for his regular contributions to both The National Post and The Gazette on the subject of retirement planning.

Archer has been with RBC Dominion Securities since 1996, and in the insurance and investment industry since 1984. He is considered to be one of the country's leading experts on retirement planning (RRSPs, RRIFs, LIRAs and LIFs) due to his extensive background in both the insurance and investment fields.

He is also active in the emerging discipline of planned giving and is a member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners.

Archer is married to an equally busy executive in the fashion industry and together they have a son and a daughter. He is an avid squash player and dabbles in portrait photography and painting, and is an active member of the Montreal Badminton and Squash Club and the Mount Royal Tennis Club.

On top of being Chair of the McGill University Health Centre Foundation’s Planned Giving Committee, his community activities include consulting with a number of local foundations and charities. He serves on the Board of Directors for Youth Horizons and has also served as Chairman on McGill University's Community Advisory Board for the Centre for Research on Canadian Cultural Industries and Institutions.
