About the Ride
Ride with Lance was an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend a day in the company of cancer survivor and seven-time Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong.
On Friday, Sept 12th, 40 cyclists rode 80 kilometres alongside Lance Armstrong, beginning from the Hotel Quintessence in Mont-Tremblant and completing a loop through the Laurentians. Even the rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the riders who had each raised at least $25,000 to participate in the day-long event. In a touching moment the event’s two top fundraisers, much-admired MUHC surgical oncologist Dr. David Fleiszer cycling in honour of his breast cancer patients and avid cyclist Dr. Daniel Quance riding for wife Laurel Milne who died of breast cancer last month, were presented with the Maillot Jaune to wear for the day. Cedars is pleased to report that donations continue to come in for these remarkable fundraising cyclists.
This very special event was in support of the Cedars Cancer Institute and the Cancer Care Mission of the McGill University Health Centre. The Cedars Cancer Institute is the only fully comprehensive cancer centre in Quebec offering tertiary and quaternary care to cancer patients of all ages, from childhood through adult life.
The Ride not only provided an incredible opportunity to spend time with a true hero, but helped the Cedars Cancer Institute of the McGill University Health Centre in its mission to provide cancer patients of all ages and their families with the best care for life.
