Montreal Cooks & the Habs take over the airwaves!
With its new reprint, the MUHC Foundation’s bestselling cookbook is back on bookshelves across Montreal—and across Canada! And now, thanks to the generous support of Montreal’s Q92 and the amazing dedication of volunteer and Montreal Cooks mastermind, Karen Dubrofsky, the book is a radio star!
On April 10, 2008, Q92’s popular morning show played host to Dubrofsky, who acted as auctioneer. What was on the block? None other than a copy of Montreal Cooks signed by each and every one of the Montreal Canadiens! Bidding was fast and furious but at 9 AM, the gavel came down with the closing bid: $1,850. The lucky recipient wishes to remain anonymous but was thrilled with the win. As always, all proceeds will be donated to the Women’s Health Mission of the McGill University Health Centre.
While the lucky bidder received a uniquely “Canadien” edition of Montreal Cooks, every copy of the bestselling book contains extras from the hockey team in the form of colourful commentary from players and food enthusiasts, Saku Koivu and Mike Komisarek. And at $39.95, the unsigned copies are a little more affordable! To order your copy from the MUHC Foundation, call Cindy Collin at 514-931-5656 or take a look at the list of retailers in Montreal.
Special thanks to Q92 for donating their airtime and to all “nos Canadiens” for helping out with this special project. The MUHC Foundation hopes that the players have the best of luck with their own special project, the Stanley Cup Playoffs!
