16-year old Karèle Galaise-Séguin needs a new heart. The young woman is suffering from myiocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle. Her heart is no longer able to pump blood. She has been on an heart-lung (ECMO) machine at The Montreal Children’s Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre for 16-days. The machine is doing the job of the teenager’s heart and lungs. To survive Karèle needs a heart transplant operation.
During a press conference on Wednesday May 14, Karèle’s parents, Annie Galaise and Robert Séguin will urge everyone to take the time to sign their organ donor cards.
