Young father to run for the Kate McGarrigle Fund

On Sunday November the 7th, 2010, Toby Harper - seen here carrying his daughter Ida - will be running the ING New York City Marathon in support of the Kate McGarrigle Fund at the MUHC Foundation.  

A friend of the McGarrigles since childhood, Toby, who recently became a father, lost his mother to cancer in 1997.  He appreciates that the effort of running a marathon is insignificant compared to the trials endured by the friends and families of cancer patients:  

"If all it took was some running to rid the world of disease,
we'd all get a lot fitter pretty quick!"
