Dr. Rayan Kaedbey Biography

Dr. Rayan Kaedbey

"Let the world change you…and you can change the world."

I've always really liked this quotation as it reminds me that, sometimes, to make a difference you have to put yourself in situations you may not necessarily be comfortable in. This year, I will be dancing for a great cause and I will be representing the Cedars Cancer Institute, an organization that I have been involved with for 10 years now.

My path, which led to who I am today, started with my medical school studies at McGill preceded by the Med-P program. That was followed by my internal medicine residency, which was done here at the MUHC as well. I am currently completing my training in hematology.

My involvement with Cedars has been ubiquitous throughout my training and even before it began. It all began when I became a volunteer for CanSupport, which was then followed by my involvement with family support groups, and now getting a team together for the annual Dragon Boat race, which always proves to be a rewarding and great time. Foundations like Cedars are becoming pivotal in cancer care as the growing needs of cancer patients are becoming more complex and are going beyond just the treatment. Seeing the impact that support has on the patients – as a volunteer initially and now as a physician – is what allows me to believe so strongly in Cedars.

So, I'm leaving my comfort zone to do a little dance, but if it means showing you the importance of Cedars and getting your vote, well then I think we will be making some great changes.
