On August 25, 2016, more than 250 guests were treated to an exceptional evening at Montreal’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel as part of the McGill University Health Centre’s (MUHC) Foundation first Le Bal Rouge. Raising more than $800,000, $300,000 of which will support the MUHC’s Cardiology Department, this fundraising gala was one of the premier events of the summer, and was attended by the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Gaétan Barrette, and Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace borough mayor Russell Copeman.
During the evening, the MUHC Foundation also presented its first-ever MUHC Foundation Award of Excellence. This annual award is given to an individual or team that has pushed the boundaries of innovation and had a positive impact on the MUHC locally and internationally. This year’s recipient was the MUHC’s Catheterization Laboratory team.
“The physicians working in the Catheterization Laboratory are truly remarkable, and the MUHC Foundation is thrilled to recognize their achievements,” explains Julie Quenneville, President of the MUHC Foundation. “Our hospital continues to attract internationally-renowned specialists, and thanks to the generous Le Bal Rouge supporters and the dedication of the event’s Co-Chairs, we will ensure that the MUHC remains a leader in cardiovascular medicine,” she says.
