The PINK Charity Softball Tournament is an annual event played in support of women’s cancers. On the weekend of July 6-7-8, twelve teams got together for the third annual The Pink, which makes this latest edition our most popular tournament so far! The MUHC Foundation formed its own team – the Noobies – and joined the rest of the community for this heartwarming outdoor event, featuring a live band, Shady Jane, and hot dogs on the BBQ cooked by our very own Dr. Sarkis Meterissian, Director of the MUHC’s Breast Clinic. This year’s proceeds will once again support the MUHC’s Breast Clinic, with a goal of purchasing an ultrasound machine for use in diagnosing breast tumors.
The MUHC Breast Clinic assists 20,000 patients annually with specialized treatment and care such as mammograms, ultrasounds, and MRIs.
Breast Cancer affects an estimated 25,000 Canadian Women & Men every year. 1 in 9 women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. Thanks to centers such as our MUHC Breast Clinic survival rates are continuously on the rise. A secondary effect of breast cancer is Lymphedema, which occurs in 25% of breast cancer patients.
The MUHC Breast Clinic receives NO government support. Your donations, help, and contribution to the Breast Clinic will aid in the continued efforts to beat this terrible disease.
